If you just reached out to a woman on social media, a dating app, or anywhere online and want to ask her out on a date, you want to read this entire article.

I wrote this article with you in mind.

Most guys unfortunately don’t know how to properly chat up a woman online without sounding creepy.

That is the unfortunate truth, guys.

If you want to ask her out on a date, you want to read the whole article which continues below.

What You Can Learn from Yolanda’s Story

I don’t know whether you are a fan of TLC’s hit TV-show 90-day Fiance or not, but you will still be able to learn a lot from the story I will share with you here.

Yolanda, who is a 51-year old widow from Las Vegas, Nevada, in the US, met a person online and fell in love with him.

However, things weren’t going as smoothly as you might hope.

When she should book the flight to London, in the United Kingdom, things started to take a turn for the worst for her.

The guys, who were known to the audience as simply “The Williams” was suspiciously unaware of what the name of the London airports were named, even though, he allegedly lived in Manchester, also in the UK.

I remember that I noticed that his accent wasn’t what you might call British, and thought that he might have moved there from his native country.

However, according to Yolanda, who was in love with him, it was British.

Now, I’m not a native English-speaker myself, however, I do know how to differentiate the different English accents, and to me he sounded Nigerian.

It was when she started to talk about how the two lovebirds met that made me raise a lot of red flags, and realized that the poor soul probably was the victim of a classic love scam.

The two met on Instagram, and in the “Tell All” Yolanda revealed that she had started to post pictures of herself as she lost a lot of weight.

Needless to say there were a lot of men, who commented on her posts.

She did say that he stood out to her, since he was the only one who didn’t leave inappropriate comments, which all the other men did.

Here are my tips on how guys should approach women on social media.

The first time I suspected that she might be the victim of a catfish was when she revealed his profile picture to the camera, and I immediately recognized that it was a stock photo.

I have used stock photos on almost all blog posts on this blog.

However, I normally use them for cover photos, but today I will make an exception, and use one below this text as an example.

black man sitting on his skateboard in a ball park, stock photo, originally uploaded from Storyblocks with permission to ChiRhoDating.com
A photo that is similar to the one the Nigerian catfish used. NOTE: The man on this picture has nothing to do with the story that I describe. This picture is a stock photo.

The more things she revealed, and we learned throghout the season, the clearer it became to me that the innocent Las Vegas-resident was the victim of a catfish since it was a textbook example of how catfishes operate.

If she had read my story on how I almost was scammed on the same platform, it could have saved her a lot of heartaches.

You can read up on how scammers operate here.

In that article, you will find a textbook examples of how scammers operate, and try to lure you in.

The Scammer Threatened to Expose Yolanda

It became painstakingly clear to me when she revealed a blackmail email.

She had revealed to the crew that she sent him nude pictures of herself, which is a practice that I am completely against, and I will also tell you why.

NEVER ever send nude pictures to a stranger.

It doesn’t matter how much “he”, or “she” begs for it, you should never do that, since you don’t know where these pictures of yourself will end up.

In the worst case scenario, your pictures might end up on porn sites.

However, most of the time these emails claim to have hacked your device (or phone/computer), copied all your contacts, and are threatening to spread those pictures to your boss, colleagues, friends, and family.

If you ever receive such an email yourself, just delete it.

Don’t reply to it, but report it to the law enforcement, and other suitable agencies if any in your country.

That is the best piece of advice that I can give you in that situation.

No matter how much Yolanda’s son and daughter tried to convince her that “Williams” didn’t existed, things like:

  • Doing a reverse image search on Google. (Yes, you can do that, and it is legal to do it too)
  • Convincing their mother to confront him (and his account was all of a sudden gone, and all the information changed)
  • Hiring a private investigator who later revealed that this account has been used in previous love scams too.

Of course, Yolanda had her own explanations, since she was in love.

She explained everything with that Williams must have been hacked, since he claimed that he didn’t know what happened to his account.

As you clearly understand, the level of manipulation that Yolanda was exposed to was very intense, and ongoing, which made it very painful for me as a viewer to watch.

It did take her a lot of time to realize it, an entire season (about 4-6 months).

The reason why it took her so long was, of course, that she didn’t want to admit to herself that she had been the victim of a scammer.

I understand how shameful it must have been for her to realise it.

However, she was very lucky to have two children who did everything they could to make her realise that “Williams” was a scammer.

Now, I will share my best tips to contact women online.

Here Are My Best Tips to Contact a Woman Online

I decided to summarise my best tips to contact a woman online before I end this article, and here they are gathered together:

  • Always be nice and polite when you begin to chat with women online. This is the only good thing the scammer did.
  • Never send someone you’ve just met any contact information, or even nude pictures, no matter how much you trust this person. Wait until you have been on at least a couple of dates, and I mean IRL dates.
  • If a person starts to ask you for money, or a loan, just say no.

Here are a couple of other tips that you will find useful.
