Dignity Matters in Dating
Let’s face it: Dignity is one of the things that we all want. Of course, we want that for ourselves but we also want to find it in the person we are dating.
I have discussed this in a previous article to some extent. Today’s article is focused on what to do and I will begin by looking at the most important book that tells us about how we are dignified: The Holy Bible.
Note: All of the quotations from the Holy Bible in this article are from the English Standard Version (ESV).
As human beings, we are dignified, not by what we have done but what God already has done for us.

In the Book of Psalms, we can read that man was made “a little lower than the heavenly beings” but that God has “crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5).
Since we are dating another person, who is made by God, we owe it to ourselves to treat this other creation of God with the utmost respect and honor. By doing so, we are giving the glory to God and we are dignifying one another.
The best way to dignify another human being is of course, in marriage. But to get there, we need to get to know one another first, which is called dating in modern English.
A good wife is described in Proverbs 31: “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” (Proverbs 31:25) But how about the man?
In 1 Timothy 3, we get the answer on how overseers (Greek: Presbyteros) and deacons should behave and how their family should be to dignify them.
This is also true in a modern family, even if you do not function as a leader in your congregation, what Timothy is writing is, in fact, applicable to Christians in all walks of life.
Titus 2 also gives a lot of valuable tips on how we, as Christians shall live our lives, both public, social and in our families and congregations.
But those tips are about marriage. Is there anybody about dating more specifically? I have discussed Christian dating in further detail in another article.
If you are a Christian who wants to date other Christians, I recommend that you join this site. It is free.
Dating to Achieve Dignity
If you want to learn how to date with dignity, you should first learn what the Bible-passages that I refer to above teaches you. Secondly, you should start implementing them.
Now, if you are uncertain of how to interpret the Holy Bible and especially about dating, I have a solution for you. You can join my special newsletter and learn how to construct your dating profile on that particular site.
Those are basically the only two steps you need to take if you want to achieve dignity in your dating and love life.
As always, you should pray. Here is a prayer you can use: God, give me insight into my short-comings, so that I may find the person who completes me. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

I hope you don’t just look on that but take action. Remember that God awards the action-takers not those who remain passive.
