In this blog post, I will ask, “Are you scared of dating?”
The reason for why I am asking you this is quite obvious:
Today is Halloween, an American holiday that has been exported to many other countries as well.
This post will be filled with intriguing facts and more…

Halloween Is A Contraction
First of all, the pure facts part: Halloween, as it’s known today, is an abbreviation of All Hallows’ Eve. It is called that because there has been a commemoration of all the Western Christian saints (or hallows; compare: Hallowed be Your/Thy Name in the Lord’s prayer) who didn’t have their own day of sainthood.
For Eastern Christians, the commemoration of the dead takes place on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
For Roman Catholics, Allhallowtide is the time in the liturgical year when we remember the pious dead, the saints and martyrs, according to an article I found on Wikipedia.
The name Halloween means “hallowed evening” or “holy evening,” according to the article, which also discusses whether this festival has pagan roots. Now, let’s go to the more interesting part: Dating during Halloween.
It should also be noted that not every part of Western Christianity is participating in the celebration of Halloween. In some countries, the church has expressed its opposition quite vocally.
I am not so fond of it either, since I prefer the day to be a commemoration of the dead rather than having “trick-or-treaters” begging for candy or cash; however, I do not think that it necessarily means any direct threat to my Christian faith if children want to dress up in costumes as long as their parents allow them.
Dating During Halloween
Is dating during Halloween such a good idea after all?
Yes, I think so! You could do something fun and maybe go out to a restaurant (if it’s not a fancy one with strict dress codes) in a Halloween costume, just for the fun of it.
Humor is always a vital piece of the dating puzzle.
Maybe going on a picnic or going to a café could be a solution for you. Of course, you do not necessarily need to dress up in a special costume, especially not if it’s the first date with someone you’ve recently met.
You can, of course, agree on what you should wear in advance to make you stand out from the rest, but go easy with that, especially if you’re at the beginning of your dates with that person.
No matter what you decide, dating during Halloween can be very fun, but as always, some caution is advised. If you don’t know the person quite well yet, there is a slight risk of offending them, so avoid it!
