Dating Through an App

It might be the new way of online dating or, as I like to refer to it, “online dating on steroids.”

Today I will discuss the photo and the rest of your profile.

Let’s face it: Online dating made us all a bit judgemental if you’re dating through an app, that emotion increases by a factor of ten or more.

Things seem to move around more swiftly and become more judgemental in general in the modern world, so why would online dating be an exception?

Please note that I will not discuss specific strategies for dating a particular app.

With this brief introduction, I will now turn my attention to your profile photo because this is the most crucial piece of the dating puzzle when you date through an app.

Dating Advice for Women: Smile on Your Photo

Online dating has a reputation for being a bit “shallow,” and dating through an app is no different.

A key element, especially if you are a woman who wants to attract a man, is to smile. For some reason, men tend to like women who smile more.

Smiling is subconsciously associated with femininity.

I think that a woman’s smile makes her more attractive and also makes her seem more friendly. It lets my guard down a bit.

It is, of course, something every woman wants to achieve.

A part of a disturbing trend is what women are doing on both dating websites and dating apps: They use old photos of themselves.

If you have read this blog for a while, you do know that I always suggest that you are as honest as possible when you write your dating profile and dating apps are, of course, no exception.

For this reason, I recommend you use a recent photo of yourself.

Here are a few other “tricks” that might be helpful to you as well.

Dating Advice for Men: Don’t Smile on Your Photo

Since smiling is associated with femininity, I don’t recommend that you smile in your profile photo if you want to get a girl or woman.

Women appreciate men who do not smile in photos.

They are more attracted to men who put on a stern face because it suggests that you are a serious and responsible man. It happens on a subconscious level.

I have discussed what attracts a woman to a man in detail in a different article.

Women also love self-conscious men, and they find confidence attractive because most women lack self-confidence.

Why else would they spend a fortune on makeup and clothes to look better than they usually do?

They do so to look good, feel good and attract men.

In other words: To boost their self-confidence.

My Best Dating Tips to Every Man or Woman

The best dating tips that I can share with both men and women besides the gender-specifics that I will continue to discuss in just a moment are the following:

Focus on humor, honesty, and try to avoid smiles in your profile.

Always respect the other person’s wishes and dreams and never try to force neither the one you’re dating nor yourself into doing something that neither they nor you feel comfortable doing.

Make sure that you keep your eyes open for the dating red flags.

After a first date, you shouldn’t continue to your or your date’s private home for a nightcap, drink, or afterparty.

Not even if you use the 3-in-1 date formula.

Dating Tips for Men: Write a Few Lines

After you have captured her interest with a beautiful photo of yourself, it is time for the second part that you most definitely shouldn’t skip.

You need to write a few lines where you describe yourself.

My advice is to focus on your benefits and what you’re good at and don’t talk about the other things, at least not right now.

Answer these three questions in as few words as possible:

  • Why should she date you?
  • What kind of remarkable experiences do you want her to experience?
  • Where would you take her, if you could take her with you anywhere in the world?

Now, these are just examples to get your creative juices flowing.

Make sure that your dating profile is short but still makes you stand out a bit from the other profiles on an app. To do this, you need to be unique.

Dating Tips for Women: Write About Yourself

Even though you shouldn’t write a whole novel about yourself and how awesome you are, you still need to write some concise sentences.

Make sure that they describe you accurately, and don’t be afraid to get him to start thinking about how a relationship with you would be life-changing and the best experience he will ever experience.

I know, those are BIG claims to make.

For your convenience, I have boiled it down into three main questions that you should have in mind when you write some text about yourself:

  • Why would he date you? What’s in it for him?
  • What are the most significant benefits of being with you compared to other women? Are you more interested in sports? Are you more fun to be around? Do you want him to worship the ground you walk on?
  • What do you like to do and what have you always dreamt of doing?

These are just a few examples to make you start thinking about it.

The questions you find above are only examples, but they will make you think first, and then when you start to write and describe yourself, it will be a lot easier for you.

It is how the human mind works: When we think about something, it becomes easier for us to focus on and then to execute it is a no-brainer.
