In this blog post, we will discuss Jesus and how He guides us, just as He did with His disciples on the way to the village of Emmaus, and how we, as Christians, should always walk with Him.

Yesterday, we discussed why we celebrate Easter and the reasons why it is the most important day in Christianity.

This blog post will also be the final installment in our “Why we celebrate Easter” series, as this day is commonly known as Easter Monday.

Why We Celebrate Easter: A Closer Walk With Jesus

In the Gospel of Luke (24:13-34), Emmaus is mentioned as a village located some distance from Jerusalem. Two men are discussing recent events. It will become evident to the reader of the Bible that they have doubts about what the women said was true.

Now, they are joined by another man, and he asks them what has happened. They are responding to his question, asking if he hasn’t learned, if he might be the only one who doesn’t know what happened in Jerusalem.

The man doesn’t seem to know, and we might imagine that these disciples are quite irritated at the man. All of a sudden, when they sit down to have a meal, the stranger breaks bread, as was the custom back then, and now they see: it’s Jesus!

Imagine the shock they must feel. We could giggle or laugh a bit since we know who they are sharing a short trip with. The question that we should ask ourselves is: Should we recognize Jesus if we saw him today?

We probably shouldn’t! Why? Because we have expectations of how Jesus would behave, look, and so on. Do we know what Jesus would look like?

For once, he would most certainly not be blue-eyed or have yellow hair; he would probably not look like the typical modern-day Asian or African either. So how would he look, then?

Like Jesus himself, of course, like a modern-day Middle Eastern man.

Think without prejudice when you think about Jesus. We won’t say that we are right on this because we don’t know either, but it is more probable that he would resemble a man from the region where he was born in the flesh than a blond and blue-eyed one.

Just as the disciples, we should have a closer walk with Jesus, not just for a short period of our lives, but for every single day.

When You Are Strong, He Walks Beside You

So, when you are strong and feel invincible, or everything in your life is going well, remember to thank God for that. Because when you think this way, Jesus walks beside you but is always ready to support you.

When you are feeling down and depressed, or nothing good seems to happen in your life, it is important to take a moment, walk to a place, fall on your knees, and say a small prayer: “Dear God! Lead me through this period of life and carry me through the trials that lie ahead. In the name of your Son, my Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Sometimes when these dark moments appear, you should turn to the Bible and to a wonderful poem called Footprints in the Sand. When darkness surrounds you, it is essential to remember that Jesus will shine in your life, as it is written: ‘The Light shines in the darkness, but it cannot put out the light’ (John 1:5).

Always honor God, tomorrow He might return.

We don’t know when God will return yet, but this is a part of our belief. For this reason, it is important to always pray and say thanks to He who made you in the womb of your mother.

Remember that when you feel this way, you are closer to God than when you think the opposite. Then God does not walk beside you but carries you. Don’t for a minute think that God doesn’t care for you; He does. Like a good shepherd, He collects the faithful and protects them from harm.

If you have doubts, look at the crucifix. What do you see?

A crucified man! Son of God crucified for your sins and ours.

God no longer sees your sins. For Jesus, take all your sins and burdens to the cross.

Remember that Jesus died for you, was risen for you, and will meet you when he calls you home or returns. Remember that Jesus is your Savior, but also the Savior of all humanity. This is what is called a blessed assurance.

When you feel ashamed or devastated, this is what God sees:

This Is A Wooden Crucifix

You are forgiven for everything! You are God’s beloved child! You are fine, not just what you are but despite what you are! God no longer sees your sins; He sees a cross full of blood!

So God loved the World that He sent His only Son. For that they who believe in him not should be destroyed but saved through him. (John 3:16-17).

This sums up the message of the entire Easter season, as well as the entire Bible: God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, so that everyone who believes in Him will gain eternal life. The Spring of Life is the Cross of Golgotha, from it eternal life springs.

A prayer:

God,

Thank You For Sending Your Son, Jesus Christ

So That The World and I Might Gain Life Through Him.

Thank You For The Gift Of The Eternal Life That Those

Those who Believe In Him Will Gain.

Thank You For Counting Me As One Of His,

As One Of Your Beloved Children.

In The Name Of Jesus Christ, My Lord and Saviour.

Amen.
