In this blog post, we will talk about Jesus and that he always guides you just as he did with his disciples on the way to the village of Emmaus and how we as Christians always shall walk with Jesus.

Yesterday we discussed why we celebrate Easter Day and the reason why this is the most important day in Christianity.

This blog post will also be the final post in our “Why we celebrate Easter”-series since this day is known as Easter Monday.

Why We Celebrate Easter: A Closer Walk With Jesus

In the Gospel of Luke (24:13-34), Emmaus is mentioned as a village quite a bit from Jerusalem. Two men are talking about the recent events. It will become evident for the reader of the Bible that they have their doubts of what the women said were true.

Now, they are joined by another man and he asks them what has happened. They are responding his question asking if he hasn’t learned if he might be the only one that doesn’t know what happened in Jerusalem.

The man doesn’t seem to know and we might imagine that these disciples are quite irritated at the man. All of a sudden, when they sit down to have a meal, the stranger breaks bread, as the custom were back then and now they see: It’s Jesus!

Imagine the shock what they have to feel like. We could giggle or laugh a bit since we know who it is that they are sharing a short trip with. The question that we should ask ourselves is: Should we recognize Jesus if we would see him today?

We probably shouldn’t! Why? Because we have expectations of how Jesus would behave, look like and so on. Do we really know how Jesus would look?

For once, he would most certainly not be blue-eyed or have yellow hair, he would probably don’t look like the typical modern-day Asian or African either. So how would he look like, then?

Like Jesus himself, of course, like a modern-day Middle Eastern man.

Think without prejudice when you think about Jesus. We won’t say that we are right on this because we don’t know either but it is more probable that he would look like a man from the region where he actually was born in the flesh than blond and blue-eyed.

Just as the disciples we should have a closer walk with Jesus but not just for a short period of our lives but for every single day.

When You Are Strong He Walks Beside You

So when you are strong and feel invincible or everything just is great in your life, remember to thank God for that. Because when you feel this way, Jesus walks beside you but is always ready to support you.

When you are feeling down and depressed or nothing good seems to happen in your life it is important to take a moment, walk to a place, fall down on your knees and say a small prayer: “Dear God! Lead me through this period of life and carry me through these trials that lie ahead of me. In the name of your Son, my Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Sometimes when these dark moments appears, you should turn to the Bible and to a wonderful poem called Footprints in the sand. When darkness is around you, it is important to remember that Jesus will shine in your life as it is written: The Light shines in the darkness but it can not put the light out (John 1:5).

Always honor God, tomorrow He might return.

We don’t know when God will return yet but this is a part of our belief. For this reason, it is important to always pray and say thanks to He who made you in the womb of your mother.

Remember that when you feel this way, you are closer to God than when you feel the opposite. Then God does not walk beside you but carries you. Don’t for a minute think that God doesn’t care for you, He does. Like a good shepherd, He collects the faithful and protects them from harm.

If you have doubts, look at the crucifix. What do you see?

A crucified man! Son of God crucified for your sins and ours.

God does not see your sins anymore. For Jesus take all your sins and burdens to the cross.

Remember that Jesus died for you, was risen for you and will meet you when he calls you home or returns. Remember that Jesus is your Saviour but also the Saviour for all humanity. This is what is called a blessed assurance.

When you feel ashamed or devastated, this is what God sees:

This Is A Wooden Crucifix

You are forgiven everything! You are God’s beloved child! You are fine, not just what you are but despite what you are! God doesn’t see your sins any longer, He sees a cross full of blood!

So God loved the World that He sent His only Son. For that they who believe in him not should be destroyed but saved through him. (John 3:16-17).

This sums up the blogs of the entire Easter as well as the entire Bible: God sent His Son, Jesus Christ so that everyone that believes in him will gain eternal life. The Spring of Life is the Cross of Golgotha, from it eternal life springs.

A prayer:

God,

Thank You For Sending Your Son, Jesus Christ

So That The World and I Might Gain Life Through Him.

Thank You For The Gift Of The Eternal Life That Those

Who Believe In Him Will Gain.

Thank You For Counting Me As One Of His,

As One Of Your Beloved Children.

In The Name Of Jesus Christ, My Lord and Saviour.

Amen.
