When you send icebreakers, you are doing that to attract interest from another human being.

Here are 5 great tips for writing a compelling icebreaker message that attracts the right attention:

1. Be honest and write something unique about you, e.g. a strange language you can talk, a sport you practice, an instrument that you play.
2. Use humour. Being goofy isn’t bad in dating; it can actually attract more people and spark curiosity. Don’t tell a joke, write some strange facts about yourself. After all, it should be about you, and if you are clumsy, then you should write that.
3. Be specific. Don’t be afraid and think that you have to attract everybody on the website; one person might prove to be enough. Avoid being too general and write what kind of relationship you are looking for. By doing that you increase the chances of finding someone like-minded that also want the same kind of relationship that you want.
4. Be positive. Having a positive attitude makes things a lot easier. Write about something you love to do, e.g. a social event you use to attend, even if it’s just once a year. By writing about your passions in life, you will automatically develop a positive attitude. Positivity attracts, negativity does not.
5. Ask questions. Ask some questions that you want your next date to answer. By asking questions, you will spark some interests.

How to Write A Compelling Profile

You can use the 5 tips above to write a compelling profile that attracts interests from other singles.

While your icebreaker message should spark interest in you enough to be able to read your profile/resume, your profile resume should attract someone even more and actually make that person want to contact you.

Here are 3 tips regarding your profile/resume:

1. Write everything in a text document that is locally saved on your computer. I highly recommend that you use a text editor with built-in grammar check, so you know your grammar is perfect before you upload it to your profile.
2. Don’t make your profile/resume a summary of your icebreaker. Write full sentences and don’t use abbreviations or contractions (yes, I’m doing it in this article, I know) since this increase readability. Make sure there is more information about you so that everybody who reads it gets to know you a bit better.
3. Make sure you also include something about who you are looking for. This is often forgotten, but this is essential. Just as you should be afraid to be specific in neither your icebreaker message nor your profile/resume, you should not be afraid to be specific about who you are looking for.
