What Is Stress?

First of all, let me define what stress is. Stress is a natural reaction to situations that either is real or imagined where you feel that you lack control.

Now, some stress is actually beneficial to us as human beings, but if you are constantly stressed, it will hurt you in the long-term.

What is stressful to one person might not be stressful for another…

There are many ways of dealing with stress, such as but not limited to meditation, yoga, mindfulness, different breathing techniques, massage, exercising and prayer.

In this article, I will not focus on the first four, but the latter three.

Being single might be one of the most stressful situations you ever have to cope with. I will discuss this in further detail below since this is a dating blog and not a medical or self-help blog.

How to Deal with Stress

There are physical and mental techniques that help you deal with stress and stressful situations.

My personal experience is that walking helps me to cope with stress but also sorting things out and deciding when I should do different things.

The physical techniques that might help you that I will discuss in further detail below are:

  • Exercise
  • Massage
  • Prayer

I will discuss them in alphabetical order so that I will begin with exercise.

Walking or running are two of the most inexpensive techniques that you can do, yet they are perfect.

No matter where you live in the world, you can probably do that.

If you feel that you don’t have time to do these things, maybe you can walk to work.

If not, go off the bus one or two stops before your actual bus stop and walk to work from there.

Maybe, you need to take an earlier bus, and that might be increasing your stress.

However, I would suggest that you prepare your breakfast before going to sleep.

Breakfast is the most crucial meal of the day, so don’t skip it. This will help you deal with stress even better if you give yourself time to eat before you leave.

If you have the ability to work from the comfort of your home, get up a bit earlier and eat a steady breakfast.

When you do different physical exercises like running or walking, you will get more energy and actually get more time to spend on other things, such as finding someone to love or spend more time with those you already love.

Cleaning is another physical exercise that you actually can do. Do that for 30 minutes, and you’ll get a pretty good workout.

These are some of the benefits of physical exercise.

Massage is another physical technique to deal with stress.

When another human being touch you or you touch another human being, you create a physical and mental bond to that person, even if it’s a trained professional.

Benefits of massage include lowering your cortisol levels, which is a stress hormone, and you will feel more relaxed, since it reduces tension in your body and pleased, maybe even a bit sleepy and happy at the same time. It is wonderful to feel that way. If you are on a date, you can give massage to your date. This product will teach you one way to do it.*

Prayer has a lot of benefits. Even though you will be in one place physical, you will be connected with God, the Creator of every human being.

Remember that prayer is your time with God, and God’s time is called eternity. Take as much thought and start praying, you don’t have to follow a formula from another prayer, sometimes the best prayers are “conversations” with God and even if you want to lament and complain, that is okay. The Book of Psalms in the Bible is filled with lamentations and accusations against God from the psalmist.

Have a look at Ps 22, for instance, and you will note that there are many lamentations and thanksgivings in the same text or Jona 2. The book of Lamentations is, of course, another example of lamentations in the Bible.

Just remember that you are loved and blessed by God. He carries you when you cannot walk yourself. He is beside you and comforts you when you are troubled.
