When author Nafsika Antypas reached out and offered me a complimentary review copy of Ghosted MD: The Awakening, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. After reading the opening chapters, however, I found myself wanting to keep turning the pages—not because of one dramatic cliffhanger, but because the story gradually pulled me into its characters and mystery.

Without giving away any major spoilers, here’s what stood out to me.

A Story That Quickly Finds Its Rhythm

The first chapter mainly introduces the main character and the world around her, but by the second chapter, the story begins to pick up speed. From there, the pacing remains consistently engaging.

One thing I particularly appreciated is Nafsika Antypas’ writing style. The sentences are generally short and easy to read, creating a smooth flow that keeps the story moving. It never feels weighed down by unnecessary exposition, making it an enjoyable read even during longer reading sessions.

The Characters Are the Real Strength

If I had to point to one reason I kept reading, it would be the characters.

The chemistry between Dr. Stacy Dimas and Jason Walker is what gives the novel its emotional core. Their conversations feel natural, and their growing connection provides a welcome contrast to the darker mystery surrounding Jason’s past.

The supporting cast also helps keep the story lively. Family interactions, humorous misunderstandings, and playful dialogue prevent the novel from becoming overly serious.

Humor in All the Right Places

Although Ghosted MD revolves around mystery and suspense, it never forgets to have fun.

Several scenes genuinely made me smile, and the humor feels like a natural part of the characters rather than forced comic relief. Dr. Dimas’ frequent movie references also give her personality and make many scenes feel vivid and cinematic.

A Mystery That Slowly Unfolds

Rather than revealing everything at once, the novel introduces new clues little by little.

As the story progresses, what initially appears to be one mystery gradually expands into something much larger, encouraging the reader to continue piecing everything together alongside the characters.

I appreciated that the author trusts the reader enough not to explain every detail immediately.

Who Will Enjoy This Book?

Based on what I’ve read, I believe this novel will especially appeal to readers who enjoy:

  • Paranormal mysteries
  • Romantic suspense
  • Character-driven stories
  • Fast-paced novels with short, accessible chapters
  • Humor mixed with emotional moments

While I suspect the primary audience will be women, I think anyone who enjoys a well-balanced blend of mystery, relationships, and supernatural elements could find plenty to like here.

Final Verdict

Ghosted MD: The Awakening combines mystery, romance, humor, and the supernatural into a story that is easy to read and difficult to put down. What impressed me most wasn’t simply the central mystery—it was the way the relationships between the characters made me genuinely care about what would happen next.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced paranormal mystery with memorable characters, this is certainly one worth adding to your reading list.

About the Author, Nafsika Antypas

Nafsika Antypas is a writer, television host, executive producer, and entrepreneur with a background in English literature, journalism, television production, marketing, and graphic design. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Concordia University in Montreal and has also pursued certifications in several creative and business-related fields.

Her experience in television production may help explain why Ghosted MD: The Awakening often feels so cinematic. The novel moves through relatively short, fast-paced scenes, relies heavily on dialogue, and frequently balances suspense with humor and emotionally driven character moments.

Antypas began writing her debut novel during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. According to her author biography, the initial inspiration came early one morning when she was awakened by an unseen voice softly saying, “Hey.” That unexpected moment sparked the idea that eventually grew into the world of Ghosted MD.

After reading the novel, it is easy to see how a small supernatural premise could develop into a much larger story involving romance, medicine, friendship, organized crime, and an unresolved mystery that leaves room for the series to continue.
