Maintaining Personal Integrity in Dating

Integrity is crucial in different situations in life. Personal integrity is one of the most important things in dating, which I discussed briefly in another article. In this article, I will analyze it deeper.

First, I will give a definition of what integrity means in general and then discuss what I think would be a definition of what integrity means specifically in dating and relationships, you might even call this moral integrity.

What Is the Meaning of Integrity?

Integrity can be defined in many ways. However, the most common one is describing integrity as “doing the right thing in the right time”. Honesty could be described as a synonym or as an integral part of integrity.

To me, integrity is also that I avoid to put myself in situations where I am not comfortable or feel awkward in and not to tell everybody about every detail of my personal life.

Honor, trustworthiness, and truthfulness may be other synonyms to integrity as well as they are attributes of integrity.

My advice to you is: Don’t compromise these attributes in yourself or in another human being or you will lose your own integrity or cause someone else to lose their integrity.

What Is Integrity in a Person?

Personal integrity could be defined as “doing what is right for me in an honest and moral way every time and in every situation that I encounter”.

Whenever you let someone down, this could be another person or yourself you are losing integrity and that is not okay.

Integrity is also not to force anyone, including yourself or someone else to do anything where they don’t feel comfortable. I would also add helpfulness to my definition of integrity.

This description of integrity is what I would like to call dating integrity. No matter which integrity definition you use everything boils down to one crucial matter: Moral.

I don’t know what you think but I think that acting moral and being moral are two of the most important things in dating.

This includes never to force anyone to do anything but also to not to do anything you yourself aren’t willing to do either. This goes both ways and so does everything there is to say about integrity.

Don’t compromise on these things or you will be letting yourself down constantly.

So to sum everything up: You need to have integrity in order, to be honest, and truthful both to yourself and to the person you are dating.
