Introduction

In this blog post, I will discuss why you should date other Christians and the reason why you should date within the faith.

Christian Dating: Some Key Factors

When I write Christianity and Christian dating here I mean this in the widest definition possible:

The Grace Of God Is Everlasting
What Is Christian Dating?

Everybody who confess that God is of one essence but separated into three distinct presences as it is formulated by the Apostolic, the Nicene, and the Athanasian creeds,

that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the World, born before the beginning of time by the Father and in time by the virgin Mary, who suffered under Pontius Pilate, who died a satisfactory death for our sins and were risen on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, now seated on the right hand of the Father in the heavens, waiting for Judgement day to come when he will be the judge of all humans that lived, lives and ever will live, separating the goats from the lambs,

that the Holy Spirit is still working and spreading the Word of God through different mediators and has so done from the beginning of time and will continue to do so until the end of time.

This is a short summary of the different aspects that these three creeds formulate and believe me when I say that I could make this a lot more specific as well as a lot longer.

I have tried to be as including as possible deliberately and I do know that some groups that consider themselves to be Christians being excluded.

I will now list three reasons each why you should as well as why you shouldn’t date another Christian.

The Reasons Why You Should Date A Christian

It is easier, especially if we’ll start a family.

This is true and if you share the same faith it will be a lot easier.

If you belong to different churches but agrees on the main part there is no need for a conversion from either part as long as you are open about what you believe in, what is the same and what is different and show each other respect and talk with your children about it.

No one understands me as well as another Christian.

It is also true. Christians usually celebrate the same holidays but we also share a common belief-system in at least Jesus Christ and the Bible and we also share the same moral and value-system (with some minor differences).

My primary identification is being a Christian.

If you identify yourself as being a Christian then I don’t think you have any other options. You love to read the Bible and/or go to Church and you pray every time, several times each day maybe. Then you should definitely find someone that does the same.

Remember: A healthy and good relationship with another human being begins with a good and healthy relationship with God.

The Reasons Why You Should Not Date A Christian

It is more exciting when you don’t share the faith.

It can be very exciting but sooner or later in the relationship you want different things like getting wed in the church or baptising your children. Sometimes even celebrating a Christian holiday can be the thing that breaks up a long relationship.

There are other things more important to me than my religion/faith.

If that is really the case, it might actually be true for you.

However, if you have grown up in a Christian society you still celebrate the holidays like Christmas and Eastern together with your friends and families so the religion still plays a part, although not as directly as if you are confessing that you are a Christian.

If I am not a Christian myself, it will be hard for me to adapt or understand certain concepts.

This is a concern that I have met many times from non-Christians in a relationship with a Christian.

If you are open with this fact (remember that communication is the pivot of any successful long-lasting relationship) to the one you’re living with let he or she explain how that person views different aspects of the faith.

You might be surprised. Remember that this person loves you for the unique person you are and has committed themselves to a relationship with you. Christianity is in fact, a religion based upon relationships (God > Humanity and Humans <-> Humans/God) and love (from God and between humans).
