In this blog post, I will write about how you can celebrate Thanksgiving with someone new and exciting. This will essentially give you so much more to be thankful about on this holiday. I will even reveal my little secret “masterplan of dating during Thanksgiving” below.
I will soon explain everything, but first there is something important to tell you about, dear reader…
When Is Thanksgiving And Why Do We Celebrate It?
Thanksgiving is a North American holiday that is celebrated in October or November each year. It is a holiday when you should thank God for everything, which you really should do every single day.
The Thanksgiving turkey is a must-have for Americans, as we Europeans understand it.
In addition, it’s also a commemoration of how the indigenous people helped the first European immigrants to gain a successful harvest. This is the reason why only North America celebrate it while Europe doesn’t.
A Dating Thanksgiving To Everyone
Yes, this is literally what I mean! You should be grateful and always praise God, of course if you’ve met someone new.
Now, since we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Europe but has become accustomed to it from references in American films and music industry, we do know a little bit about it.
Dating during a holiday where almost everything is closed might seem like a bad idea and there is also the social pressure about spending time with the rest of your family during this important family holiday.
I understand that it can be a bit hard not to re-unite with family or friends for singles living in U.S.A, Canada, Grenada and the other countries that celebrate this holiday. So can you even date during Thanksgiving?
The answer is undoubtedly a big YES! Let me explain exactly how. This is my masterplan of dating during Thanksgiving.
How To Date During Thanksgiving
So here it is, my masterplan of dating during Thanksgiving.
You might have friends or families that want you to date but at the same time they want to celebrate Thanksgiving with you, can you do both?
The answer is: Yes, you can!
Let’s start with some optimistic thinking: The holiday of Thanksgiving is long (3 days in Canada and 4 in the U.S.) so, it shouldn’t be any trouble to make some time for dating.
If you have to travel far away it can be a problem but you will still meet people and that is how you can look for potential dates on a flight or which transportation you will use. If you’re driving a car yourself, you really should keep your eyes on the road and focus on that!
However, you might need to stop for some gas or something. Try to plan your trip in advance, if possible, so you will only make your stops in larger cities.
People are often stressed during this time of year. Take advantage of it by talk directly to the person you are interested in and say something nice like:
“Hi! You look stressed out! I know it’s that time of year now again, right?” or why don’t just be brave and say something like:
“Hello there! I am so sorry but I just have to ask you, are you single?” If that person replies with a “No”, it will suck but you have been very brave and then you should hope for some better luck next time.
However if the person replies with a “Yes”, then by all means, feel free to say “Would you mind if I buy you some coffee or tea here and we could maybe chat here, just to get to know each other a bit first!”
This is using stress to your advantage since both of you are stressed but you will take charge of the situation and make a move directly.
I would like to say that I have tried this during Christmas myself and the result has varied a lot. I can’t guarantee that you will be dating if you use this masterplan on many people.
Rejection is hard to face in dating and it’s terrible for your self-esteem but the truth is: The more people you ask, the greater the chances are that you will get a “Yes” for someone eventually.
Even when you are celebrating Thanksgiving and are watching a thanksgiving parade, you will get a lot of chances to talk with people that might be singles.
If you won’t go anywhere particular there might be the chance to meet a friend of a friend too. The possibilities are endless. Take the time to make a quick view, if someone has a ring that looks expensive, they are probably in a relationship already and then you shouldn’t ask them out on a date, of course.
So remember: It might not work for everybody but if you don’t put yourself out there, you won’t be going on a date during Thanksgiving. There are of course also some other techniques you may use but I won’t reveal them publicly.
